Projects are suitable for development work, offering the benefit overview for planning purposes. Project items are arranged in a parent-child hierarchy:
Projects
- you may have one or more Projects running concurrently
Tasks
- Tasks are given a parent Project, and are suitable for larger 'phases' of development work
- They can be arranged by 'Step' number
- Their start and finish can be displayed in a Gantt visualisation
- Comments can be made on the Task, which will send an email to which others can reply (these do not appear in the tickets comments)
Tickets
- Tickets are identical to support tickets, but with a Task parent (support tickets parent is usually the Organization)
- Used when a Task is complex and it is beneficial to break down into smaller units of work
- They will appear in the tickets list with all other tickets and may be prioritised within that list
- Note that by giving tickets the 'Development' category, they can be filtered easily from the support list as required
